Lockdown thoughts...

May 17, 2020

I know I’ve been very quiet over the last few months but I’m now breaking my silence; this period has brought huge difficulties to the whole world, I am deeply saddened by the huge loss of lives we have seen and I am thankful my friends and family are safe. Covid-19 has affected each of our lives in many different ways - for me my livelihood has been taken away with the cancellation of concert tours and the delay in release of my album. I say livelihood not just in the sense of income but more so as performing musicians connecting with audiences is where we draw much of our energy from and coping with the loss of that and all the sadness surrounding us with the news had left me feeling uninspired and unmotivated. This was an incredibly difficult reality to come to terms with and the more I thought about the fact that I was feeling this way the more I would spiral down in sadness. Eventually I discovered my way back to my love, the piano, but until then I found comfort in doing other things; gardening, cooking, eating (YES, EATING!), drawing, reading, watching movies or playing video games. I want to speak honestly and openly about this as there may be someone out there who needs to hear that IT IS OK to feel this way - we can’t always stay inspired, active, positive or motivated, we’re not perfect (well, I’m certainly not) so just do whatever makes this period easier for YOU, it’s a global crisis and frankly our only job is to come out of this alive. Take care of yourselves. Lara
